Tru Powell has recently been appointed as the Marketing & Events Champion (Board Member) for the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) West Midlands Region. The news comes after the regional board’s Chair and Dean of the Business School at University College Birmingham, Dilshad Sheikh recruited seven new members to complete a new 14 member strong board. The regional board members have been appointed to join its operations and help support some of the work of the regional networks.

CMI West Midlands offers support to the professional journey of the local members by ensuring that they have constant access to a variety of engagements and activities that enhance their management skills, knowledge and competencies so that they are able to become a great and successful leader. We are their professional development and networking platform connecting them with other like-minded professional members, higher education institutions and various other community partners.
Powell’s primary responsibility will be to eensure all events align to the strategic objectives of the Board. Powell is also the Managing Director for The Alternative Events & Wedding Company, the Creative & Events Director for Aston Performing Arts Academy and a Business Partner of Kandy Girl, a children’s pamper salon. This isn’t Powell’s only Non Executive Director (NED) appointment as he is also a NED for both Creative Academies Network and TAG Network.
Speaking on the appointment Powell said,
“I am excited to join the CMI as the new Marketing & Events Board Member. I am even more excited at the prospect of championing the events for the region and supporting the professional development of its local members. I am hoping to bring my wealth of experience and knowledge in the world of events to this role to enhance and develop what the CMI already has in place and to be able to provide a platform where members can network with other like-minded professionals.”
