The Alternative Events Company with support from the Baby Ava Foundation have been handed the baton to continue with The Midlands Business, Community and Charity Awards (MBCC) resounding success for another year. The news comes after Zoe Bennett, the Founder and former event organiser of The MBCC Awards felt it was time to hang up her cape and bring in ‘fresh blood’ in the hope to take the event to the next level.

Since its inception in 2015, the annual, glitzy event is aimed at showcasing people that are selfless, considerate to others and that go that extra mile. The event is a celebration of all the wonderful deeds that are being done in our amazing region and is one of the only events to recognise individuals in both the business and community worlds. Last years sold out ceremony at Holiday Inn, Birmingham Airport seen over 35 finalists get recognised and 12 selfless businesses and individuals crowned worthy winners for the outstanding work they do.

The awards were initially founded by Zoe Bennett to say thank you to Gavin Williamson MP (now Secretary of State for Defence) for saving Zoe’s life. Gavin Williamson was presented with an Honorary Award, a category that will remain in The MBCC Awards for the foreseeable future by way of continuing both Gavin’s and Zoe’s legacy.

Speaking of the handover Zoe said, “I feel its time to hand the awards ceremony baton on as the awards are about the people. The handover allows the awards to reach and help further deserving individuals. The awards are about creating a society of strength in numbers with no ulterior motive other than to recognize and support one another. I am confident that The Alternative Events Company with the support from Baby Ava Foundation will take the awards to greater heights and honour more individuals and businesses.”

All proceeds of the event will be awarded to two charities – Baby Ava Foundation and The West Midlands Police Cadets.

Richard Atkinson, Founder of Baby Ava Foundation and Ava’s Dad speaks of his involvement of the event, “after winning the Community Fundraiser of the Year award in 2017, I was honoured to be asked to be involved in this years event and more to come. To be involved is such a powerful night is an honour that I can help it grow and help recognise so many unsung hero’s. We will be making the MBCC awards into something that people are recognised for their hard work and contribution to the Midlands. I am also honoured that Baby Ava’s Support Foundation is to become one of this years charities helping supply memory boxes to parents that have suffered the loss of a baby.”
